Cox has been a sales manager since 1962 and a consultant since 1974. He has held branch, territory and regional responsibilities in product and services marketing organizations. He has served as a senior corporate executive and as a university professor. In 1986 he was named a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and in 1997 he was elected a Fellow of the U.S. Institute of Management Consultants.
Cox is an alumnus of the University of San Francisco (production and operations management) the University of Missouri, Columbia (history) and the University of California, Berkeley (finance and controllership).
